I just cringe when I view the advertisement showing Harper and Bush walking side by side. Do we have another Mulroney here? it appears so. We need a Prime Minister who is not so friendly with Bush and his need to kill as many people as possible, even his own are taken by so called “Friendly Fire” What happened to going into another country as “PEACE KEEPERS? Bush demands more and more of our armies to support Bush’s mistake of going to war even against the advice of the United Nations.
I am amazed Bush hasn’t been thrown out of the White house or taken out by the Muslims permanently. Obviously Harper is a American for he agrees with Bush in all cases. Why are we sending our army to clean up the mess Bush started and apparently will not end until he has over taken each country were has OIL? We are a peaceful Nation at least we were before Bush started this war on Iraq
Rather try Liberal again. They Stand up to Bush
While I may agree with the overall sentiment of your comment, I can’t agree with the copious amounts of exaggeration and misinformation. Harper is not an American. The overall US goal is making peace, not keeping it (the oil is just a sidebar). Are you advocating the assassination of the President by Muslims (bad thing to say outloud, don’t visit the states anytime soon)? And don’t think the Liberals stood up to Bush, they disagreed with him. And the Lumber deal was started while the Liberals were in power.
Everything is about perception. PS, I was just in your neighbourhood, near Tiverton. (I don’t know who you are, I can tell by your IP.) I’d say 50/50 Con/Lib forms the next government at this point. It all depends how the liberal race shapes up and whether people get energized and jazzed about it. What’s your early prediction?
Wow You sure do defend Mr. Bush, I wouldn’t call him a president he has proven himself how little he knows what is really going on. He needs a hearing device in order to answer questions in a debate on tv did you notice the shape of the box hidden on the inside back of his jacket? 1)American Soldiers rush to put American Flags on Other countries. 2) 1st protection in Iraq is the oil wells 3)Advocating the Assassination of the President [I am not that stupid] it will come without my help if he keeps this up, there are an awful lot of people who hate Bush now even in the United States. One thing I won’t be voting Conservative Party in any case, Harper has shown his true colours in a very short time. Time we had a Prime Minister who stands up for Canada and stop giving in to the Americans. Why don’t they need passports to come into Canada? It’ just a game to them, but they lose out, not many people go along with Canadians having to pay for passports to get into the U.S.A.I’d say the average person here does a lot less travelling across the border or taking vacations in resorts or on Cruise Ships. With all the money he used from the budget, he might have put it to better use, like helping people who had their homes destroyed from severe weather.
So you have my I.P. address so what is that a threat?
Just for your information I am a decendant of a Grandmother who was a Mohawk from the Bay of Quinte. I do not have reason to believe Bush is a maniac, but for a “Christian, he sure goes against the “Thou shalt not kill, but then he isn’t man enough to get in the war himself, he flaunts this “Commander and Chief enough” but stands back an barks out the orders.
“So you have my I.P. address so what is that a threat?”
Nope. It was a friendly wave hello neighbour kind of thing. You read that one way wrong. And, I don’t defend Mr. Bush, I do defend against misinformation. For example, no one for sure knows what the deal was with ‘the bulge’. We can all speculate, but I’m not aware of any proof. Doesn’t matter, its not important to debate how bad Bush is because Americans, when it comes down to brass tacks, seem to not care — they are the only ones who can do anything. I think that President Bush has done a wonderful job…
You must very easy to please! How else to describe the current 33 percent of Americans who approve of what the man is doing. The last time someone got a 33% and was deemed ‘wonderful’ was when Bush was in college.
wow…you all post veyr terrible biased and misinformed comments. First off, how did a talk about Stephen Harper end up talking about president Bush…
“even his own are taken by so called “Friendly Fire” What happened to going into another country as “PEACE KEEPERS?” -Shirley
…first off…what does american military training have to do with Bush? nothing..your definatly focussing one problem and blaming it on Bush? ..
secondly..Canada is only seen as a “peace keeping” nation becasue of the media. Did you know that the “peace keeping” forces funds, when it was created just before the Korean War was simply 10% of the military budget? the rest of the billions of dollars were to ARM canadian soldiers incase of soviet threat and the Korean war. We are not peace keepers, we are a war country and alwasy have been.
“I am still wondering why there is a United Nations, if a American President can do just what he wants and dictate to all the other countries”
..the united nations were created with the US as a veto and at it’s head. It is a US creation, that’s why they can do what they want…and also the fact that NO ONE can stop them. No one in the world has the money, the power or intention to stop the US from doing that they wanna do.
“I think that President Bush has done a wonderful job in keeping world peace. Thank God for the protection of over 50 million people in Iraq and Afghanistan!”
….are you serious? honestly…are you serious?…wat about the hundreds of schools and hospitals destroyed by American forces?..protection of them? Now my own input. Harper is a dictator, but a good one in a way. Yes he controls mdia coverage everything he does, but he seems to truly believe in a better Canada. Of course he does not have the general canadian set of values, but he’s doing an alright job so far. The corrupt liberals needed out, one ..maybe 2 terms is all it’s going to take to get the liberals some more power. Don’t worry, he won’t change that many bad things in that time, not with a minority anyways.
Harper doesn’t seem to know what he’s doing and really people we don’t want to put the Lib’s back in. It is time for this country to give Jack a chance. Vote NDP. Vote for peace. We would never be with the US in these wars if Layden was PM, or even if the Lib’s had stayed (eventhough they suck). Harper is like a “Canadian G.W.Bush”, he’s just not as hard core. They both believe in power, money, and war, when they should be focusing on our own economy and the downfall it is having.
Quebec- It’s own nation. Next they will be their own country and what will happen to Canada then. If you think our dollar is doing well next to the US now, you might as well forget it if Quebec seperates. Our dollar, our resources, and well, our whole economy will go down the toilet. We will be a third world country, and then what Bush will want? Our resources and he will take them by force. We will have war in the northwestern hemisphere, and Harper has pissed off too many other countries by helping Bush that Europe will just laugh in our faces saying serves you right for joining him, and we will be on our own to fight Canadian against American. We can’t be friends forever. Bush knows how badly we will sufffer if our country is broken up, I’m sure he influenced Harper’s decision in this matter.
Bush know to “Keep your friends close and your enemies closer!”
I often wonder why it is that people complain about the person in power, and always suggest that they should not be in power, yet never realize that they’re simply choosing between 2 or 3 people that will never represent their best interests anyhow.
We all focus so much on why a prime minister or a president is so BAD, and how they should be THROWN OUT, but fail to realize that you’re just going to empower the next yahoo, who will simply do the same thing but in a different way.
For the first time since as long as I can remember, Canada’s prime minister is NOT a social elitist. He is not from a blue blood family of aristocrats, who’s only desire is to have “a legacy.” Sure he’ll make mistakes, who doesn’t, but I actually think he doesn’t delude himself into thinking that all his decisions are the gospel.
That aside, whoever thinks that Jack Layton should be the prime minister, remember that this is the man who comes up with arguments such as:
“We need a $10 minimum wage. I mean, look at the MP’s, they just voted themselves a 25% raise, don’t you think that our poor deserve a raise too?”
Now… At casual glance, you’d ALMOST think that this makes sense… But let us dig deeper.
1. A $10 minimum wage increases the liability of an employer to an unskilled employee. If it was so bad to get the current minimum wage, you’d think that no one would be working those jobs (but they are).
2. A 25% raise for government bobble heads is ALSO a liability to employers (as in more taxes required to pay these people who’s job it is, to come up with new and inventive ways to spend ever more money on things that do us tax payers very little).
You see here’s a man that thinks that since the government bobble heads decided THEY get more money, they should increase the cost of doing business even MORE to make things even.
IF however, he suggested that everyone in the house of commons take a 50% wage decrease to be distributed amongst the poor, perhaps then he’d actually be saying something noble.
THERE’S NOTHING NOBLE IN THE GOVERNMENT REQUIRING ONE TAX PAYER TO PAY ANOTHER CITIZEN MORE MONEY!
Now.. as to Bush. He’s attempting to protect the American way of life. I agree, they probably need to change the way they live, but they’ve commited FAR too much into the current way, and any change WILL destroy them (failing to change will also destroy them, but it will take a few extra years….)
Disregard the ad’s at the end. But I’m sure you’ll agree that this is probably what Bush believes and is trying his damnedest to prevent the USA from losing out. However, he is actually doing it at the EXPENSE of his people in order to maintain the GOVERNMENT, as opposed to doing it at the expense of the government to maintain the people (as in sacrifice government entities and taxes, to allow the people to consume/produce/spend more). But this has become quite the norm in all Democracies that have adopted central banking and all the evils that come with ‘financial vehicles’ and ‘fractional lending.’
You all, as individuals should bicker less about who’s doing more for you, and be angry about the fact you’re not allowed to do things for yourself anymore. This nation was not created by government, the government was created by the nation.
Remember, buckle your safety belt. It’s the LAW. (Fail to do so and you can be shot… If you fully resist and refuse all charges/etc. associated with the ‘ticket’)
I would really like to see if anyone here has read the likes of Alexis de Tocqueville, or Thomas Jefferson, Voltaire? I’ve only recently become more interested in politics, as I begin to see the world crumble around our feet. Where a married couple engineers can’t purchase a home (both employed) because people are willing to take on debt of $500,000 +++ based on an annual household income of merely $65,000. We live in a mickey mouse monetary system where people equate ‘credit rating’ to WEALTH somehow.
These are dangerous times, and don’t kid yourself. The $28,000+ outstanding debt per living breathing Canadian (spent by the likes of other bobbleheads without us really knowing, and without them even having to levy taxes to spend) is also not exactly fair. What they bought in the 1970s is apparently now MY DAMN DEBT, and, further, this same generation of people are upset that they aren’t getting enough government pension (due to the hyperinflation they also allowed).
Everyone, I ask you not to complain about, or promote some other individual. I ask that you just get more educated about the entire picture. EVERYTHING IN LIFE IS BASED ON ECONOMICS. Yes the USA is there for oil, and NO it’s not really a terrible reason to be there, but ONLY because there are no GOOD solutions anymore. They are a falling Rome and they’re trying desperately to hold on, because remember what happens when your Rome’s fall…..
“We would never be with the US in these wars if Layden was PM, or even if the Lib’s had stayed (eventhough they suck).”
Uhm, you should should check your chronology on that one. Last time I checked, it was in fact the Liberals who were in power when we entered the Afghanistan war. Last time I checked, this is also the only war we’re involved in…
Kudos to you for forgetting that simple fact in such a short time, and immediately blaming the people in power for something that was handed to them by a previous ministry. You make a GREAT mindless sheep following the herd to the mass media shepherd work.
It is an ideal situation in democracy, for the government to have two parties and for the population to be split about 50-50. They can pass all the crap they want because their supporters do not want the other party in power. I really just pray (and I’m atheist…) that we as a people can stop falling for this….

Cheers.

Oh.. forgot to add.
