I’ve been using the Subscribe to Comments plugin (by Mark Jaquith of txfx.net) for quite some time. Recently, I got to wondering how many people where actually using it on my site. I poked around for awhile and found a simple script that generated a list of users and their subscriptions (again from Mark). While it does the job of reporting who is subscribed to what, I felt that I could improve it (if only slightly).
Presenting WP View Subscriber Info, a plugin for WordPress.
Features:
- Easy administration via Admin menu;
- Displays all subscribed individuals and the posts they are subscribed to;
- Show basic stats wherever you like using a function call;
- Optional insertion of subscriber statistics into the Dashboard.
Installation:
Download the Zip archive and extract the entire directory to your local disk. Upload the entire directory (dash-note) to your plugins directory (wp-content/plugins/). If completed correctly, your directory hiearchy should look like so: /wp-content/plugins/dash-note/.
Usage:
Simply activate the plugin in the administration back end go to Options -> View Subscriber Info. The first time you generate the report, the statistics will be off. This is a limitation of the current design. Reload the page to see the numbers. As well, anytime you want to update your stats, you need to regenerate the report by going to Options -> View Subscriber Info.
In this version, the logic is all backwards. So if you want updated to the minute stats you need to load the page twice. If I get around to making this plugin better, I’ll fix to logic to first generate the stats and then display them, not the other way around. See the screenshots below.
To create a report wherever you want simply invoke the following PHP function:

One of the reasons I stopped using Subscribe by Comments was the lack of viewing subscribers.
Good job on the plugin.
I haven’t yet given it a shot, but I was wondering if you can subscribe / unsubscribe users in bulk?

no you can’t. This just whips through the DB and produces a report and some numbers for you. I’m curious though, why would you want to be able to sub and unsub in a bulk fashion?

Damn, I always do this, leave a comment and don’t come back. Anyway, the reason I wanted to bulk subscribe/unsubscribe because I’ve noticed users submitting false addresses.
Other times the spam comments addresses also seem to be coming up there. A new comment triggers a whole set of bounce notification emails as a result. Hence the need for a bulk unsubscribe.
Just had to sit and cleanup 15 addresses today.

Great plugin, but one little bug I noticed:
For the link in Dashboard under Latest Activity that is supposed to direct you to the wp-subscribed.php file in your options, it doesn’t take into account when your WordPress installation is in a subdirectory. For instance, in order to see the list of folks subscribed to various topics, I need to go to open-dialogue.com/blog/[path to wp-subscribed.php] but the link in the dashboard drops the blog/ from the address (i.e. open-dialogue.com/[path to wp-subscribed.php]. Just a little something you might want to clean up.
